Whether you’re hitting the gym or working out from home, proper athletic wear is a must. The downside? Quality affordable athletic wear can be hard to find.
I’ve purchased a ton of affordable athletic wear over the years. I decided to compile a list of my favourite top quality affordable brands so you know where to get your money’s worth.
Some of my posts contain affiliate links. If you click on an affiliate link and buy something, I may receive a very small commission. It does NOT result in additional charges to you or cost you anything extra.
Fabletics
I’m a bit late to the Fabletics bandwagon, but I must say, the hype is real.
Fabletics offers a VIP membership that offers you exclusive deals. Every month, you’ll receive personalized outfits based on your style preferences and member-only prices. You’ll also receive two leggings for $24 on your first order. Being a VIP member is completely free and you can skip months when you don’t feel like purchasing. You have up until the 5th day of the new month to skip, and a charge will be applied to your account to be used as store credit if you forget to skip.
I ordered for the first time two years ago and I was so impressed. I also highly recommend the VIP membership. As I mentioned, it’s completely free and there’s no obligation to order every month. Just remember to skip the months where you don’t plan on ordering!
I’ve ordered three sports bras and three pairs of leggings, and they are amazing. I have two pairs of the Kessler Medium Impact Sports Bra which retail for $34.99 USD at the VIP price. They feature a flattering two-tone strap design on the back and come in many colours.
I also have the Mila Midi Medium Impact Sports Bra which retails for $39.95 USD at the VIP price. I love the midi length because it feels like a workout top. The racerback design also features a phone pocket. It is in an odd place, which I personally can’t reach, but it could be useful for some people.
Both styles are true to their names and are perfect for medium-impact workouts. They are also stretchy and so comfortable. My one problem with them is that the pads move around and sometimes fall out in the wash. It’s not a huge deal, but it can be annoying trying to put them back in place.
The leggings are also great quality. I ordered the High-Waisted PowerHold® 7/8 leggings ($44.95 USD), the Oasis High-Waisted Pocket 7/8 leggings ($49.95 USD), and the Mila High-Waisted Pocket Legging ($54.95 USD).
I love each pair and they are all great quality. They’re stretchy, but they hold you in and don’t fall down. They are a bit expensive compared to some other places, but if you are able to purchase them in a set they are less expensive. Plus, the quality outlasts cheap leggings.
Out of all of the brands I tested, I would recommend Fabletics the most for people searching for quality affordable athletic wear.
Aerie
Aerie is known for its affordability and its inclusively, but how good are its activewear? I’ve owned a pair of the OFFLINE By Aerie Real Me High Waisted Leggings since they came out and have only worn them for lounging around, so I decided to put them to the ultimate test.
I wore these leggings for a yoga workout, and I was very impressed. I had a previous pair of Aerie leggings that were terrible for working out, but these look great, feel comfortable and don’t fall down when working out.
The best qualities about Aerie leggings is the price, how comfortable they are, and that they’re squat-proof. The OFFLINE By Aerie Real Me High Wa retail for $59.95 CAD but are almost always on sale. There are also different styles of leggings that may be more suitable for high impact workouts.
Old Navy
Old Navy is known for its cheap prices and constant sales, which is why I was excited to try their athletic wear. I bought the High-Waisted Balance Ladder-Hem Leggings and the Light Support Mesh-Back Sports Bra. The leggings retail for $34.99 CAD and the sports bra retails for $26.99 CAD.
The leggings are high-waisted, stretchy, and feature cute ladder-hem detailing on the bottom. They are really cute for working out and actually fit really nicely. They are good quality and, most importantly, are squat-proof.
The one flaw with the leggings is that the waistband kept sliding down during cardio workouts. It’s not a huge deal, but it was annoying having to keep pulling them up. I would still recommend the leggings if you are looking for a low-cost option.
I was also very pleased with the sports bra. The fit was true to size and had extra stretch. It is light support, but I found that it still holds up well for cardio workouts. Old Navy does offer medium and high support sports bras as well if that is what you are looking for.
Both the leggings and the sports bra are very comfortable because they are cotton. These are great pieces if you want cute affordable athletic wear for a low price.
Amazon
I had never tried Amazon leggings before, but I have heard such amazing things. I decided to purchase the QUEENIEKE High Waisted Leggings, which retail for $30.99 CAD.
I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but I was shocked by the quality of them. They feel just like Lululemon leggings. The material is thick and the leggings are ultra high waisted.
One thing to note is that the fabric is a tad bit shiny, which isn’t a big deal for me, but I know it can be a dealbreaker for some.
Overall, I would highly recommend these leggings and other amazon brands if you’re shopping for affordable athletic wear. They hold up really well and are great quality. Make sure you read the reviews though before purchasing so you know what you’re getting.

I love old navy’s leggings, they’re so comfy and also so supportive! My second favourite pair of leggings is from Amazon, so I definitely agree with this list.
