September has come and gone, and I spent the month finishing the last of the summer books I bought. My September 2021 book review roundup includes books with romance, mystery, and a whole lot of plot twists.

Meet Me in Paradise by Libby Hubscher
Marin Cole lives her whole life for her younger sister Sadie. After their prize-winning journalist mother died in a tragic accident abroad, Marin took over the motherly role, always watching over her sister. Sadie lives her life on the wild side while Marin prefers the comfort of her home. When a sisters-trip turns into a solo trip for Marin, she is forced to vacation as her sister would, hiking alongside dangerous mountain cliffs and diving into the ocean. Marin can’t wait to get off the island, but her handsome tour guide and Sadie’s wishes for her to explore might just make her stay longer than she expected.
Meet Me in Paradise was not what I was expecting at all in the best way possible. There were complex plots, romance, love triangles, intrigue, and mystery. It was emotionally compelling and I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to know more. I bought Meet Me in Paradise expecting a fluffy romance book, but the book is so much more than that.
There’s so much to love about this book. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a book with romance and a complex storyline. It’s so amazing that I recommend it even if you don’t typically like reading romance books. I give Meet Me in Paradise by Libby Hubscher 5/5 stars.
The Lion’s Den by Katherine St. John
Money is powerful. It can save people and it can change people. Belle likes to think money has no effect on her, but it’s hard to say no when her childhood best friend Summer invites her to spend a week on her billionaire boyfriend’s yacht. Belle hopes the trip will be a nice getaway from her lackluster acting career and demanding server job, but it quickly becomes clear this trip isn’t going to go as expected.
I bought The Lion’s Den thinking it was going to be a fun, summer read, but it was exactly the opposite. It’s mysterious, dramatic, and even a bit tragic. The book is 352 pages and dragged a bit in the middle, but the ending was exciting and fast-paced. And, there’s even a little bit of romance if that’s your thing. Overall, I’d recommend this book if you like books that are a bit dark and twisted.
Overall, I’d give The Lion’s Den by Katherine St. John a 4/5 stars.
