The leaves are changing, the temperature is cooling, and everyone’s wearing sweaters. You know what that means… it’s finally fall! And I’m showing you the best places to buy fall decor on a budget!
Fall is one of my
As soon as the seasonal decor hits the shelves at Michaels, you know I am right there buying it all up. But, buying decor for your room can be pricey which is why I am here to give you all my tips and tricks for decorating your room on a budget!
Store #1 – the Dollar Store
The Dollar Store is your best friend when it comes to seasonal decor. They always have their seasonal decor out before any other store and it’s all under $5! The dollar store might have a reputation for cheap stuff, but some of their items
For example, all of these fall foliage and flowers are all from the dollar store and are between $1 and $4. Floral arrangements like these at Michaels would cost upwards of $30.
A string of fall leaves can be hung anywhere or strewn across a shelf or fireplace. I hung mine above my desk and decorated my picture board with fall-coloured images to match the colour aesthetic.
Putting fall flowers in your room adds a touch of
The Dollar Store is also great for smaller decor such as fall-themed signs and pumpkins. They have an assortment of pumpkins, candles, and harvest arrangements that retail for under $2! They are perfect to scatter around your room wherever you have free space.
Store #2 – Michaels
While the Dollar Store has tons of great items, Michaels is my
Like I mentioned before, flowers in a pretty vase are a great addition to the room. I bought this yellow jar along with this small fall floral bouquet and together it was under $10! It’s a great touch for a desk or shelf, and the jar can be used in the spring and summer as well.
Signs are also a great touch to a room. They are perfect to express yourself with, which is why I decided to express my love for pumpkin spice with this orange sign. It was less than $10 and there were so many to choose from. You’ll have no problem finding one that suits you.
Decorative pillows are the best way to pull a room together and act as an accent. I fell in love with this pumpkin spice pillow and it matches my bedding perfectly. Another plus is that pillows make your bed look and feel extra cozy for when you’re watching Halloween movies on a chilly night. While this wasn’t the cheapest item, there are plenty of inexpensive options at other stores such as Homesense, Marshall’s, or HomeGoods.
Question: What’s your favourite thing about fall?
Sarah Beckwith says
I don’t have any of these stores in Denmark, but I love your article anyway. Fall is my absolute favorite season 🙂
Katrina says
Thank you for reading! Fall is my favourite season tied with summer! They’re the best.

Love this! I subscribe to Michael’s email list so every time I need to purchase something, I quickly search through my email and find a coupon. Sometimes you can stack the coupons with the deals!
Katrina says
Same here! It’s dangerous when I get an email with a good coupon. I’ll spend too much money on things that I don’t need! But the deals are too good to miss!
Christina says

Ahh! I love adding orange into my decorations. It looks so nice and a fun pop of color. That pillow is ADORABLE, and I agree on the Dollar Tree. It’s my favorite place to get things to decorate with.
Have you made a door wreath from their awesome collection of deco mesh and mesh tubing? I’m OBSESSED.
Thanks for sharing your thrifty ways of decorating, it looks great and seasonally appropriate. I love it! 🙂
Katrina says
Orange makes everything so much more festive, and it is so aesthetically pleasing. The Dollar Tree really is the best place to find hidden treasures.
No, I haven’t made a wreath, but that sounds like it could be such a cute and crafty idea! I’ll have to try one day. Maybe for Christmas!

I’m not a fan of pumpkin spice lattes; my favorite thing about fall is actually drinking apple cider! I love your tips about decorating for fall on a budget. I love to wait until Michael’s offers a sweet coupon like 50% off your whole purchase or 60% off one item before I scoop up seasonal decorations. That way my husband can’t get upset at me for spending too much money! 😉
If you’re wanting to continue the fall festivities, check out my blog! I just posted about frugal fall activities and I think you’d like it!
Katrina says
I’ve tried apple cider before and I’m not the biggest fan, but it is still good for a fall drink. Michaels has the best decor, and there’s always good coupons! I only ever wait until 50% or 60% coupons. I will for sure check out your blog!
