Christmas is right around the corner and there’s no better way to celebrate than sitting by the tree with a warm cup of peppermint hot chocolate and a holiday romance book. I always save my favourite holiday romance books for December to read, no matter how many times I’ve read them before. They’re easy to read and make me happy. I mean, what says Christmas spirit like a guaranteed happy ending?

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
I’m currently in the middle of re-reading this holiday romance book and it’s one of my favourites. Maelyn Jones spends every Christmas with her family and family friends in a remote cabin in Utah. She’s spent every Christmas there since childhood and this will be the last Christmas, until time turns back and Maelyn has the chance to live a life that makes her happy, which means staying in the cabin.
I don’t usually like romances that go back in time and do the whole Groundhog Day plot, but Christina Lauren does it right. In a Holidaze is the best book to put you in the Christmas spirit and the romance is notably swoon-worthy.
Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella is a story about the true meaning of Christmas. It can be easy to get caught up in the holiday shopping craze, especially if you’re a shopaholic like Becky Brandon. As she finds reasons to shop for every holiday event, she learns that traditions and festivities don’t revolve around giving gifts or having brand new gadgets.
I’ve never read any of the books in the Shopaholic series, but I bought this one because I’m a sucker for holiday books. It wasn’t confusing to read this book without reading the others and I highly enjoyed the plot. It’s heartwarming and serves as a reminder of what Christmas is truly about.
Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler
This book reads like a Hallmark Christmas movie, so I highly recommend it if you’re into those (which I totally am). Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler follows Lana Montgomery, a rich socialite from a family of developers. Lana loves Moose Springs, especially during the holidays and is keen to change the town for the better, however the townspeople disagree with Lana’s vision. Can Lana make it right with the town and achieve her goals at the same time?
Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle
This anthology of short stories is an easy read to get you in the holiday spirit. John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle came together to write three short stories about a group of strangers who find themselves connected during a blizzard on Christmas Eve. A Netflix original film of the same name was released a few years ago, which I highly recommend watching after reading the book.
The 12 Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
Dating is hard, but going on 12 dates in one month is even worse. Thirty-four year old Kate Turner has given up on love until her friend signs her up for a dating agency that promises to help singles find love before the holidays. With only 23 days until Christmas and 12 dates with 12 different men; will Kate find love or will she be alone under the mistletoe?
