Makeup Monday: Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer

The key to flawless, seamless makeup is the right primer. The tricky part? There are many different primers out there targeted to different skin types and concerns, which might make it difficult to find one that works for you. I recently tried the Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer and think it’s an affordable option for anyone needing a boost of hydration.

The Product

Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer

The Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer retails for $25, and is a silicone-free, water-based aqua serum primer. The primer helps to smooth skin, refine pores, and grip foundation for long wear. It’s vegan, brightening and hydrating.

The key ingredients are:

  • Niacinamide, for smoothe skin
  • Vitamin E, which is conditioning
  • Hyaluronic Acid, for hydrating
  • Witch Hazel, balances skin

The Review

I received this primer as a sample from Sephora and I’ve been testing it out for a few weeks now. Overall, I like it, however, I wouldn’t rave about it. It’s not my favourite primer, but I do grab it every so often.

The best quality of the Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer is how hydrating it is. My skin instantly feels boosted and glowy. It leaves the skin feeling a bit sticky, making it a great base for foundation.

The Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer also smells like watermelon, which could be a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about fragrance. It smells fresh and it hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin. It’s also very affordable compared to other primers.

The one con is that the product has beads that dissolve as you rub the product into the skin. I don’t love the texture of the beads and hate the extra work of rubbing them until they dissolve.

PROS: Hydrating, affordable, smells refreshing

CONS: Beads in the product

Would I buy this product again? No
