I’d say half of my makeup collection consists of Rare Beauty products, so, of course, I ordered the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter as soon as it was released in December 2022.
I have the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlighter, which is stunning, but I’ve always preferred powder highlighters. I look for a pressed powder highlighter that is natural yet buildable and lasts all day, and the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter checks off all those boxes.

The Product
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter retails for $33 CAD and is available in four shades: Enlighten, Exhilerate, Flaunt and Mesmerize. It is an innovative powder highlighter that gives skin an instant glass-like sheen for an easy, natural-looking glow. The highlighter is made of 50% pearl microshimmers set in a semi-sheer base, making it extremely delicate.
The Review
I’ve used the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter everyday since buying it. It has become a staple in my makeup routine and I couldn’t imagine not using it. I ordered the shade “Exhilarate,” a champagne gold, and it’s the perfect neutral shimmer, especially if you have pale skin. The shade reminds me of the infamous Becca Champagne Pop highlighter, which was my go-to before it was discontinued.
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter is smooth and a little goes a long way. Seriously, if you put too much on the brush you’ll look like a disco ball (which could be a vibe if that’s what you’re into). The right amount, though, will have you looking effortlessly glowy.
This pressed formula highlighter applies flawlessly and is long-lasting. I’ve used other powder highlighters that fade throughout the day, but the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter looks just as bright after 8+ hours of wear. It also doesn’t cling to any dry patches on the skin.
I’ve read some reviews from people who say the highlighter is too sparkly for them. While it is shiny, I don’t find that there are glitter particles in the formula like there is in other highlighters.
PROS: Long-wearing, glowy finish
CONS: Sparkly/ shiny
Would I buy this again? Yes! I love the Rare Beauty Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter.
