One thing I’ve learned from the pandemic is that accessories make or break an outfit. You could be wearing sweatpants, a baggy t-shirt, and a hoodie, but you’ll feel put together as soon as you put on jewelry.
I’ve become really dependent on accessories over the last few months so I’ve decided to share my must-have spring accessories at the moment!
Must-Have Jewelry
Dainty gold jewelry has been a long time favourite of mine. It is so classy and looks great with any outfit. It’s simple, yet makes a statement.
I’ve made it a priority to support local stores, especially during the pandemic, and a store I keep going back to is So Pretty Cara Cotter. So Pretty Cara Cotter is a local jewelry store in Edmonton that has both dainty and statement pieces. They have even partnered with Jillian Harris from The Bachelor.
My favourite pieces that I switch in and out are the Mini Honour Stud Earrings in pink quartz and gold and the Mini Dream Stardust Studs in cubic zirconia and gold.
Both pairs of earrings are great for everyday wear and go with any outfit. I don’t leave my house without wearing my So Pretty Cara Cotter earrings. I am obsessed with them and am constantly wanting more pieces.
I recently bought the Poise Thin Cable Link Band Ring which I wear all the time. All of my pieces from So Pretty Cara Cotter are so durable and I feel great knowing I’m supporting a local business.
So Pretty Cara Cotter ships across Canada and the United States, so check it out and discover jewelry that I’m confident you’ll love.
Mini Honour Stud Earrings – $105 CAD
Mini Dream Stardust Studs – $148 CAD
Poise Thin Cable Link Band Ring – $53
Must-Have Hair Accessories
Jaw clips have become so trendy and I recently gave in and bought some. I have to say, I’m obsessed. They are so practical and are great for when you’re having a bad hair day. You just clip your hair up and you’re good to go!
I bought two jaw clips from Hey It’s Pham & Co, a local business that originally started out selling scrunchies, but recently added hair clips! I purchased the Harmonia Goddess clip and the Peony Butterfly clip.
I was so impressed with the quality of them when I got them in the mail. They are much more durable than jaw clips I’ve purchased from the mall. The best part is they hold hair so well. I have thick hair, so I was worried that my hair would fall out of the clip but everything stays put all day long. The colours are also beautiful.
Hey It’s Pham & Co ships across Canada, the United States, and internationally so get your hands on these beautiful clips quickly before they sell out!
Harmonia Goddess Clip – $22 CAD
Peony Butterfly Clip – $19.99 CAD
Must-Have Perfume
I love having a signature scent and it’s taken me a long time to find a perfume that I love. The winner is Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb. If you want to smell like a freshly bloomed garden then this is the perfume for you.
It has a heavy floral scent, which smells so magical and dreamy to me. I get so many compliments every time I wear it and I find that it lasts longer than most fragrances. It is the perfect scent for spring.
Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb 30mL – $100 CAD
If you’re a bit hesitant to commit to one scent, try out Replica’s Mini Discovery Set. Replica is my next favourite brand of perfume and all of their perfumes smell divine.
Some stand-outs for me are Lazy Sunday Morning, Sailing Day, and Under the Lemon Trees. These are perfect summer scents. If you’re looking for something moodier, try Whispers in the Library. It’s my go-to fall and winter scent. You’ll be sure to find a scent you love from Replica.
Replica Mini Discovery Set – $41 CAD
Must-Have Bag
I recently started my first full time job, so I needed a professional bag that fit all of my things, especially my MacBook Pro. I’ve been using a plain black Kate Spade purse for years now, and even though I love it, I was bound to upgrade sooner or later.
I knew I wanted a Matt & Nat bag ever since I discovered the brand a few years ago. The bags are sustainably made with vegan materials and the quality is better than some brand name purses I’ve owned.
I bought the CANCI Vegan Tote Bag in Purity and I am obsessed with it. It has so many compartments and pockets. I can fit everything I need and more in it. And, the best part is my 15 inch MacBook Pro fits perfectly in it. If you’re in need of a professional bag, I highly recommend Matt & Nat. You won’t be disappointed in the quality.
CANCI Vegan Tote Bag – $170 CAD
Must-Have Phone Case
If you drop your phone a million times a day, then you need a Casetify phone case. Casetify’s cases are protective, sustainable, and antimicrobial. Seriously, you could drop your phone down a set of stairs and your phone will be fine. Casetify’s cases are lifesavers. Plus they come in so many designs and colours, and you can even customize them to have your name or initials on them.
I have the iPhone 12 Pro Leather Case with my initials on it, and I’m obsessed with it. I’ve received so many questions and compliments about it. It’s my go-to case. I also have the iPhone 12 Pro Impact Case in the La Vie en Rose design. It is so bright and beautiful. I will never go back to another phone case again after trying Casetify cases.
La Vie en Rose Impact Case – $55 USD
Custom Leather Case – $65 USD
Must-Have Body Care
The pandemic has left me with the driest hands you can imagine and finding a good hand lotion hasn’t been easy. I’ve become sensitive to scented lotion so a quick trip to Bath & Body Works doesn’t cut it for me.
I recently discovered an Edmonton skincare brand called Adewunmi Skincare that has natural and customized skin care. You can customize the ingredients in your lotion based on your skin type and what kind of scents you want. They have a three step process where you pick your base, active ingredients, and essential oils or fragrance oils.
I ordered the body balm with lavender essential oils, rose garden fragrance oils, and noted that I wanted the fragrance level to be light. I’ve had no reactions to this lotion and it works wonders. It is extremely thick and moisturizing, and feels great on the skin. They have something for everyone.
Adewunmi Skincare Body Balm – Starts at $17.99 CAD
