The way you start your morning can affect your entire day. It sets the tone for the rest of your day. If you’re a university student, then having a productive university morning routine is even more important.
When you have what seems like a million classes and tons of assignments to do then starting your morning off right is key to a productive day. Waking up with an open mind and a positive outlook will ensure that you have the best possible day.
Today I’m sharing my own productive university morning routine to inspire you to create your own!
The First Step of a Productive University Morning Routine: Waking up
One way to start your day on the right foot is to wake up early. My typical school day begins at 5 AM. Yes, this is really early. And, yes, if I didn’t have class at 8 AM I would not be awake. But, even if I didn’t have those early morning classes I would still wake up around 9AM.
The best part about waking up early is that it gives you extra hours in the day to get more done. You might even feel more productive in the morning than you would later on in the day so it becomes a good opportunity to accomplish your daily goals.
Another tip is not to use an alarm, which I know is unrealistic for some people. In my entire 20 years of being alive, I’ve never used an alarm to wake up and I think that’s part of why I have no problem waking up early. I even enjoy waking up early sometimes.
But, if you can’t trust yourself to wake up without an alarm then try waking up without snoozing the alarm. It’s even been proven that waking up without hitting snooze is better for you mentally.
The Importance of a Morning Skincare Routine
After I wake up, my next step is skincare. Having a morning skincare routine will make you feel balanced and will get you into the routine of waking up early. Another nice perk is that your skin will feel moisturized all day.

The most important part of a productive university morning routine is breakfast. Going to class all day makes me feel so hungry, so I always eat before going to class.
Getting Ready for Class
Getting ready for class is the most time-consuming part of my morning routine. Even though I wake up early, it takes me about an hour and a half to fully get ready. I know lots of students go to class in their leggings and hoodies, but I feel more productive when I put the effort in.
Try dressing up if you notice that you feel sluggish throughout the day. I swear, dressing nicer will make you feel 100 times better even if it just means wearing jeans instead of leggings.
At the same time, you don’t want to dress uncomfortably or else you won’t be able to focus on anything except your outfit. Wear something that makes you feel confident and that is comfortable to wear for long hours. If you’re in need of ideas, here is a week of outfits that are easy to plan.
Coffee, coffee, and more coffee
My next step is packing lunch and making coffee. I don’t know about you, but I get pretty hungry throughout the day since I have long classes. Always pack snacks because it will be hard to focus if you’re hungry during class.
And, I always bring a coffee with me no matter what. Having coffee wakes me up in the morning and keeps me powered through my early morning classes. Coffee is also how I end my morning routine! My day is ready to start when the coffee is brewed.
Question: How do you start your mornings?

Your room is so cute! My old college morning routine was brushing my teeth, getting ready and leaving with a bagel in hand lol Yours is much more structured and organized! I hope you’re good and well!

My university isn’t open anymore due to the virus, but I still want to follow a morning routine to better myself and this post is pushing in the right direction.

I’m in the same boat. Having a morning routine is especially important now or else my whole day is thrown off.

Such a good morning routine! I wish I could wake up at 5 AM but 7 AM is already horrible lol. Loved reading this!
My morning routine is basically waking up at 7 AM, get dressed, skincare and brushing my teeth, doing my makeup while eating breakfast and I’m ready to go! 🙂
