If you’ve been following along, then you might know that I’ve been on a journey to find a budget-friendly alternative to my favourite moisturizer. So far, the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is the best dupe that I’ve tried.
For over a year, my go-to daily moisturizer was the Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream and it’s one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used. However, it’s pricey and one container lasts about 3 months, so I wanted to find a budget-friendly alternative.
I first tried the CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, which destroyed my skin in just a few uses. I don’t recommend it, but you can read about my experience here. I’d heard great things about the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, so I decided to try that one next and I am so happy with the outcome.

The Review
I am so glad I gave CeraVe a second chance with the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream because it’s an incredible product.
The price for the amount of product you get is my favourite part. Before, I was paying $73 CAD for 1.7 oz of product. The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is $29 CAD for 15 oz. I estimate this tub will last me over a year, as I’ve been using the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for just over a month now and I’ve barely made a dent in the tub.
As for the moisturizer, it’s extremely hydrating and the effects last all day long. The formula is thick, but it absorbs into the skin easily without feeling heavy or leaving a greasy finish. At the end of the day, my skin still feels and looks hydrated.
The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream also provides the perfect base for makeup. In the winter, my skin is drier than usual and sometimes my makeup clings to dry spots if it’s not hydrated enough. I’ve used a few moisturizers in the past that weren’t hydrating enough and my foundation would cling to these dry patches. The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream provides a hydrating barrier so that your makeup applies flawlessly. Since I started using it, I haven’t had any issues with dry spots.
I especially love that the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is fragrance-free. A lot of moisturizers unfortunately use fragrance, which can be irritating if you have sensitive skin.
The other great thing about the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is that you can use it on your face and body. I don’t usually use it anywhere but my face, but there have been a few occasions where I’ve used it on really dry spots and it works like a charm.
I highly recommend the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream if you have dry, sensitive skin, or if you’re just looking for a great budget-friendly moisturizer.
