I’ve changed up my skincare routine lately thanks to a TikTok trend called skin cycling, and a new product I’ve been using is the Farmacy 1% Vitamin A Retinol Serum.
I’ve never used retinol in my skincare routine before, except for a retinol eye cream, so I was interested to see its effects. I did plenty of research before adding retinol into my skincare routine and I looked at plenty of products before choosing the Farmacy 1% Vitamin A Retinol Serum.

The Product
The Farmacy 1% Vitamin A Retinol Serum retails for $75 CAD and is a clinically proven one percent vitamin A retinol serum with a double dose of fast-acting retinal and encapsulated retinol. The serum visibly firms and targets fine lines and wrinkles, and improves texture while nourishing the skin.
The highlighted ingredients are:
- Fast-acting retinal, which promotes immediate delivery to tighten the look of skin, visibly improve texture, and fight the look of wrinkles and fine lines,
- Encapsulated retinol, which delivers a more stable gradual release and results without irritation,
- Upcycled Kalahari melon oil and raspberry seed oil, which are rich in antioxidants, and sooth and replenish moisture
The Review
Retinol is a staple in many people’s skincare routines because it targets fine lines and keeps skin looking glowy. Retinol is essentially a derivative of vitamin A, which is one of the body’s key nutrients for boosting cell turnover. Introducing retinol into your skincare routine should be a slow process, as using too much of it in a short amount of time can irritate the skin.
I started skin cycling after I learned about it on TikTok, which prompted me to order the Farmacy 1% Vitamin A Retinol Serum. I read plenty of reviews before I settled on this product. It has 441 reviews on Sephora with a nearly five star rating. It is also the fifth product suggested when you search for best-selling retinoids on Sephora. I’ve used Farmacy products before and had positive experiences, which is ultimately why I decided to purchase it compared to the other products recommended.
In compliance with skin cycling, I use retinol one to two times a week, and follow it with two nights of recovery. Since I started skin cycling and using the Farmacy 1% Vitamin A Retinol Serum, my skin has become noticeably glowier, smoother and more hydrated. I haven’t noticed any irritation after using the product.
It is on the pricier side, however, it is worth it and you won’t go through it fast if you’re using it the recommended amount of times a week. I highly recommend trying the Farmacy 1% Vitamin A Retinol Serum if you’re interested in adding retinol to your skincare routine.
PROS: Glowy & hydrated skin, no irritation, highly rated
CONS: Expensive
Would I buy this product again? Yes!
