The best beauty and skincare products that I’ve tried and tested in 2020
A whole year has passed and I think it’s safe to say a lot has happened that we never thought would. Somehow it also feels like we’ve been stuck in March all year! To honour another year gone by, I’d like to share with you the best beauty and skincare products that I’ve tried this year (because there were at least some good things to come out of 2020, right?).

2020 Beauty Favourites
⭒ Pure Canvas Primer – Hydrating | Laura Mercier
My skin is incredibly dry which can make putting on foundation a complete nightmare. My foundation would always separate around my nose and lips, and dry up in random patches on my face. No primer worked for me, until I tried the Laura Mercier Hydrating Pure Canvas Primer. It is a miracle worker, especially if you have dry skin!
⭒ Prep + Prime Fix+ Primer and Setting Spray – Matte Finish | MAC Cosmetics
I was strictly a Morphe Continuous Setting Mist fan, until I tried the MAC one. I actually didn’t like the MAC setting spray the first few times I tried it, but it quickly became my favourite setting spray. It’s very wet, but doesn’t leave drip marks in your foundation. Your makeup won’t move once you’ve set it with this spray.
⭒ Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick | Rare Beauty By Selena Gomez
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick is one of the best lipsticks I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot of lipsticks). It is creamy, soft, and pigmented. It doesn’t dry your lips out and it’s longlasting, even when wearing a mask. It’s the best of both worlds!
I tried the best-selling Rare Beauty products and loved them all! Check out my review here.
⭒ Lip Lustre Lip Gloss – Pillow Talk Collection | Charlotte Tilbury
I never was a lip gloss type of girl until recently. Now, I reach for my lip glosses more than lipsticks! They are easy to put on and look cute with any look. I love the Pillow Talk collection by Charlotte Tilbury, and the lip gloss doesn’t disappoint either. It is my most-loved product because of the beautiful, natural colour and it isn’t sticky! It’s the perfect lip gloss for everyone.
⭒ Nars Blush – Dolce Vita
Finding the perfect blush shade can be so difficult, but the Nars classic blush in the shade Dolce Vita is incredible. It is a dusty rose shade that looks great on any skin tone, especially fair tones. I use it every day and I love it because it gives off a rosy glow without making you look like a clown.
2020 Skincare Favourites
⭒ Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser | Youth to the People
This is hands down by far the best cleanser I have ever used. It is extremely gentle, but also lathers super well. It smells delicious and leaves your skin feeling squeaky clean every time. It also removes makeup which is a plus!
⭒ Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins™ Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Treatment Lotion | Origins
My cheeks can be extremely red some days, and this treatment lotion has helped so much! It feels so nice to put on and soothes my skin. It also neutralizes my skintone which makes me feel much more confident on days where I go without make-up.
⭒ Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips | Clinique
The worst part of taking off your make-up is when your eyeliner or mascara don’t come off with the rest of the products. I usually use cleansing balms to remove my makeup, and while they work great, sometimes they don’t remove everything completely. The Clinique Take the Day Off Remover for lids has been my saving grace. It completely removes even the toughest liquid eyeliners and makes taking off makeup so much easier!
⭒ Truth Serum | Olehenriksen
If your skin ever needs to feel a little more refreshed, then the Truth Serum is for you! I love using the Truth Serum to give my skin a boost in the mornings. It makes my skin glow and makes me look much more radiant and awake. It also smells heavenly.
⭒ The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream | Tatcha
The Tactha Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream is one of the best eye creams I have ever used. I received a sample from Sephora and it has changed my skincare game. It brightens my under eyes and feels so refreshing because of the melting effect. I found that it also reduces any lines and dark spots around the eyes!
⭒ Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask with Vitamin C | Youth to the People
Sleep masks are a key part of my skincare routine. Mostly because they’re simple and you don’t have to worry about making a mess. They apply like a moisturizer and you leave them on all night. When you wake up, you’ll have dewy skin.
This Youth to the People sleep mask has become one of my favourites. It is a gel cream, which I love and it always makes my skin so moisturized and glowy.
⭒ Instant Detox Mask | Caudalie
I love face masks (if you couldn’t already tell from my previous favourite), and this detox mask is life changing. I love it because it only needs to be left on for five minutes to work, whereas many other masks require 10 to 15 minutes. It works crazy fast and always leaves my skin feeling brand new. I use it whenever I feel like my skin needs refreshing, usually after wearing lots of makeup.

Katrina says
It’s such a good spray! At first it seems too wet and like it will leave wet marks on your face, but it dries so nicely!
Jeannie says
Who doesn‘t like make-ups! I love a good face mask and will definitely check that also Im keen to try Origins brand so thanks for that 🙂
Katrina says

Carista says
These are great recommendations! I wonder if that soothing lotion would work for me. My t-zone can get pretty red, and when I do my whole routine it definitely looks better but it’s always been one of the main reasons I wear makeup! I’m always into the stuff that can make your skin look so great you feel confident without makeup…which is always a time-saver!
Katrina says
You should defintely give it a try! My cheeks were always super red when I was younger and got a little bit less as I got older, but they do still show through my foundation sometimes. I find that since I started using the lotion, it prevents redness throughout the day.
