I don’t know about you, but having a good college Winter nighttime routine is key for me to be productive, even if it is just a basic routine. If anything goes wrong or I don’t have a restful sleep, then my whole schedule is off.
As a university student, getting enough rest is key or else I’ll lack the motivation to go to class or to do my assignments, which can already be hard enough as it is. Today I’m sharing with you my nighttime routine to have a productive day, so let’s get to it!
Preparation
My night routine begins around 9 PM because when it comes to staying up, I am a total grandma. This semester, I only have three days of school a week, but two of those days start at 8 AM. Having 8 AM classes means that I usually wake up around 5:30 AM so staying up late the night before really doesn’t do me any good.
If I’m not already in my PJ’s (which I usually put on as soon as I get home) then that is my first step. Being comfy at home is how I like to relax and spend my evening. Before I head upstairs to get ready for bed, I’ll fill a water bottle to keep on my nightstand in case I wake up thirsty in the middle of the night. Then I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and put my retainers in. After that, I’ll usually shower, wash my hair (every second day), and moisturize. In the shower, I begin my skincare routine.
Nightly Skincare Routine
Skincare is very important to me and feels like a stress reliever at the end of every day. If I’m wearing make-up, I’ll remove it first using the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm which is magical. If you want a more in-depth review, I wrote about it as part of my winter favourites. After that, I use the Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Oil all over my face and cleanse with my Foreo Luna Fofo.
Next, I apply Drunk Elephants B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum, T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum, and Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil. All of these products make my skin feel extremely hydrated and moisturized while giving my skin a natural glow.
The next, and sometimes optional step, is putting Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion on any spots or pimples that have annoyingly appeared. This stuff does wonders and dries out the pimple so that the appearance is extremely reduced or gone the next morning.
Lastly, and most importantly, is lip balm. My lips get extremely chapped during the winter months and there’s nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night with dry lips. I don’t have a product that I currently love, but occasionally I’ll use the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in the berry flavour. It is super hydrating and perfect for winter.
Prepping for the Week
Once my lengthy skincare routine is done I’ll sit down at my desk and organize my week. I use a Bando academic planner as well as a weekly sheet planner to write down what classes I have, any upcoming assignments, and what I need to accomplish for the week.
The Bando planner is good for seeing what I have scheduled for the week, while the weekly planner is great for making to-do lists, which I am a huge fan of. I like going to bed feeling organized and then when I wake up I can glance at my lists and see what I have coming up for the day.
Bed Time
I have a bad habit of scrolling mindlessly through all my social media accounts at night, so after I get that out of my system I like to read at least one chapter of a book. But before I start to read, it is a must that I check my emails. Not that I ever have anything really important to check for, but it is a bit of a stress-reliever for me to have all my emails read at the end of the day in case I ever do have something in my inbox that I need to see.
After my emails are all read, I’ll read a chapter of the book I’m currently reading which relaxes my mind and tires out my brain. Currently, I’m reading Love at First Like by Hannah Orenstein. Reading at night also feels stimulating as I usually spend all day reading academic articles for school.
Once I’m done reading, I turn the lights off, put my herbal sleeping mask on and head to sleep!
Question: What is your favourite part of your nighttime routine?

How do you like the Laneige? I understand totally about being in bed early and waking up early. One thing I love about Mario Badescu is the refreshing herbal rose spray. Not sure if you have tried it, but it is incredible for skin. Fantastic blog post. Thank you for sharing.

I like Laneige’s products, but I don’t love them. I would recommend them as they do work well and are a pretty fair price compared to some higher-end skincare, but I find that the higher end stuff does work better. One product from Laneige that I would highly recommend is the water sleeping mask! I use it about once a week and it makes my skin feel great, especially after exfoliating. I have tried the Mario Badescu rose spray! It is so nice and feels so luxurious! Thank you for reading!

I love your nighttime routine! Mine is very similar- shower, skincare, get ready for the next day, and be in bed by 10 with a good book!

It’s the best way to unwind!

This sounds like a lovely night routine! I love the skincare products you use, I really want to try the Drunk Elephant serum. Also, I think it’s such a good idea to organize your week before you go to bed. Never thought about that and I really want to try it too’
