If you know me then you know I love Harry Styles, and I have since I was 12 years old. I’m usually not one to buy merchandise unless it’s at a concert, or other products that celebrities release, however, I was excited when he announced the launch of Pleasing. The skincare and nail polish line does appeal to me, but I wasn’t about to open my wallet and buy everything.
Then, I got an email saying something along the lines of “Last Chance,” and I fell for it. I ordered the Pleasing Pearlescent Illuminating Serum. The worst part? The shipping cost as much as the product. Let me say, I had buyer’s remorse immediately after and tried to cancel but my request was denied. Oh well, at least I get to write this review!
The Product
The Pleasing Pearlescent Illuminating Serum retails for $47 CAD and has a moisturizing formula containing vitamin B5, antioxidants and amino acids for all skin types. According to the Pleasing website, “The encapsulated pearls are created with lab-safe mica for a subtle, smooth luminescence that dissolves into the formula when dispensed.”
The product is vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, non-comedogenic and dermatologist-tested. It can be used daily on its own or as a priming base for makeup.
The Review
I felt quite embarrassed that I spent so much on this tiny serum, however, I forgave myself. I actually really like the Pearlescent Illuminating Serum and use it daily. It feels cooling and hydrating on the skin, and gives my skin a natural glow. It makes my skin look glass-like. I always use the serum on no-makeup days because it makes my skin look bright and awake.
I’ve also used it as a makeup primer because I wanted to see how well it works, and it does the job. My makeup applied evenly and didn’t cling to dry patches, which it often does if I don’t use a hydrating primer. I definitely prefer using the Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Hydrating Primer instead, but the Pearlescent Illuminating Serum is a great primer for after the gym when I’m in a rush and only apply concealer and mascara.
Overall, I like the Pearlescent Illuminating Serum, and it’s priced fairly, but I can’t get over the shipping cost to Canada.
PROS: Soothing, hydrating, brightens face, fairly priced, aesthetic bottle
CONS: Shipping cost
Would I buy this product again? No, simply because of the shipping cost.
