I’m heading on vacation in less than a month and I’ve been on the hunt for a tinted moisturizer to take with me. The weather will be warm and I’ll be on the beach most days, so I want something that will cover any unevenness without weighing down my skin. As soon as I started my search, Rare Beauty launched its tinted moisturizer and I just knew I had to try it, as I love Rare Beauty products so much.

The Product
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer retails for $38 CAD and comes in 24 shades. It’s light coverage and hydrating with a radiant finish. It’s also great for all skin types.
The Review
I ordered the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer the morning it launched on Sephora because I was so excited to try it and didn’t want it to sell out (it’s sold out in almost every shade online at the time of writing I’m this).
It’s important to remember this product is a tinted moisturizer and not a foundation. It’s not going to cover acne or other imperfections. It is great for uneven skin tone and colour correcting.
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer is lightweight and blends seamlessly. It looks and feels like a second skin. It’s not a matte finish, but it’s also not extremely radiant. It’s a nice in-between. A big thing for me is that it doesn’t stick to dry patches or creases, and a little product goes a long way.
I found that the product did oxidize slightly throughout the day. I don’t think anyone else would be able to tell, but I noticed that it looked slightly darker at the end of the day than when I applied it in the morning. The Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer also has SPF 20.
The Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer is comparable to the DIOR Backstage Face & Body Foundation. Obviously, the difference is that one is a tinted moisturizer and the other is a foundation, but there are many similarities between the two products. As soon as I pulled the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer out of the box, I noticed it looks extremely similar to the DIOR Backstage Face & Body Foundation. The bottles are almost identical.
The formulas are also similar, however, the DIOR Backstage Face & Body Foundation is a medium coverage foundation and covers more. It’s also heavily scented, whereas the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer has no scent, which is great for sensitive skin. If you like one of the products then I’m confident you’ll like the other.
Overall, I really liked the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer. It’s great for days where I don’t want to wear foundation, and I like the coverage and finish. I highly recommend trying it if you’re looking for a natural-looking tinted moisturizer.
PROS: Lightweight, evens skin tone, unscented, has SPF 20
Would I buy this product again? I would! I’m open to trying other tinted moisturizers, but the Rare Beauty Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer works well for my skin type.
