I tried Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty collection and here’s my honest Rare Beauty review
Selena Gomez is an icon. She’s an actor, singer, and now the founder of Rare Beauty, her new affordable makeup line.
Like everyone, I was so excited when Selena Gomez announced she was working on her own beauty line. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the products and try them out.
While I didn’t go into Sephora on the day of the launch, I did have all the products in my online cart ready to order. I spent days watching reviews and tutorials just waiting to get my hands on Rare Beauty. And a few days later the products arrived on my doorstep.

About Rare Beauty
Rare Beauty was founded by Selena Gomez and launched exclusively at Sephora on September 3. The brand’s focus is to sell products that make people feel good in the skin they are in while helping to break down unachievable societal beauty standards.

Proceeds from the makeup line will go towards mental health initiatives. Over the next 10 years, the Rare Impact Fund will work towards donating its goal of $100 million to help give people access to mental health services. While looking good, you can trust that you’re doing good too.
Rare Beauty Review
Celebrity make-up brands are typically a hit or miss, and I’m so happy to say that Rare Beauty is a hit.
I ordered the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in the shade “joy,” the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlighter in the shade “Mesmerize,” and the Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick in the shade “Fearless.”
The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is the most pigmented blush I’ve ever used, but I will preface this by saying that if you use too much, you will look like a clown. A little goes a long way with this product, so you have to be careful how much you apply.
I find that the best way to apply the blush is to put a tiny dot on the back of your hand, blend it into a blush brush and then apply to your face. Then use another big fluffy blush to help blend out. It will look a little crazy at first, but it will look natural once it’s all blended out.
The Positive Light Liquid Luminizer also gives the face a natural glow. The product looks metallic, but applies very sheer so that it can be built up to your desired look. My favourite way to apply this product is with my fingers, but you can also use a brush.
The best part about these two products is that they can be applied whichever way you want, even with your fingers, which makes them the perfect products for those on the go.
The last product I bought, and my favourite product, was the Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick. This is the best matte lipstick formula that I’ve used in recent years. The matte lipstick trend was so popular for years, but most formulas dried your lips out and cracked after a few hours of wear. Because this lipstick is cream-based, it doesn’t do that! It feels moisturizing and soft on the lips, and the colour is so pigmented.
If you’re only wanting to try one thing from the Rare Beauty line, I highly recommend the Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick. You won’t regret buying this product.

So far, I’ve only read “surprised” positive reviews about this brand. It makes me really happy! I love Selena Gomez and was hopeful that her beauty line would be decent, if not excellent. Great to know that you think good things about it too!

They are really good! I’m hoping for some nude shades as well. The ones she has out are really bright and not totally my style.

They are for sure worth it! If you try anything from the line, go for the blushes and lipsticks. The colours seem a bit bold at first, but they look so nice when applied.

I have been following this make line for a while now. It seems to have mixed reviews, but I prefer natural makeup and I am beginning to think this will work for me. Great review!!! I am adding the lip souffle matte cream lipstick for my Christmas sock stuffing!
I have seen mixed reviews as well, and I think it’s because some of the products are more natural. I admit the blush is a bit hard to apply, but it’s great once you play around with it and find a way to apply it that works best for you.
I was wanting to try this beauty line for a while, but always seem to stick with the same products. I loved your review and I think I will finally test it out especially knowing that the money goes to such a good cause !
