There is nothing more relaxing than doing a face mask at the end of a long day or the morning after a night out. I’ve always seen people raving about the Dr. Jart Shake and Shot Rubber Masks and I’ve always wanted to try one because the packaging is so unique.
They are a bit pricey, so I never bought one until I saw them marked down at Winners. I bought seven and I’m having so much fun trying them out. Keep reading to see my thoughts on the Dr. Jart Shake and Shot Rubber Masks.
The Product
The Dr. Jart Shake and Shot Rubber Mask retails for $16 CAD and is a DIY rubber modeling mask. It’s good for all skin types and targets wrinkles, fine lines, loss of firmness, dullness and uneven texture.
The current Dr. Jart Shake and Shot Rubber Mask collection includes four different types of masks: Shake & Shot Rubber Hydro Mask, Shake & Shot Rubber Soothing Mask, Shake & Shot Rubber Brightening Mask and the Shake & Shot Rubber Firming Mask.
The Review
I tried the Dr. Jart Shake and Shot Rubber Soothing Mask and the best way to describe the experience is fun. The mask comes in a container that looks like a cup with a straw. Inside the cup are two packets: the STEP 01 Super Booster and the STEP 02 Liquid Ampoule. You combine them in the cup, put the lid on and shake until fully mixed. Then you use the provided spatula to spread the mixture all over your face and leave it to sit for 15 to 20 minutes.
When the time is up, the mask should feel stuck to your face. It’s hard to describe because it doesn’t dry down like a clay mask does, rather it becomes firm. Peeling it off is extremely satisfying as the rubber is stuck to your face. I ended up using the spatula to scrape the mask off. The entire process is a bit messy, but it’s worth it in the end.
My skin felt smooth and soft, and looked hydrated after using the mask. It’s a lot more work than just tearing open a sheet mask, but it’s fun to do. I wouldn’t use it all the time, but I like it for when I’m in need of a spa day or I’m having friends over.
PROS: Fun, easy-to-do, leaves skin soft and hydrated
CONS: Time consuming, pricey
Would I buy this again? Probably not, and I don’t think I’d pay full price for it. I wanted to try it and I’m glad I did, but I prefer sheet masks.

Great review. Now I wonder if you can keep the container to rinse out and use as a cup. That would be my resoje for buying as I thought it was an actual shake

Sadly, I don’t think you can as it’s pretty flimsy.
