YEG Cafe Highlight: Transcend Coffee

Transcend Coffee and Roastery

Transcend Coffee and Roastery is a specialty coffee roaster located in Ritchie. There is also a pop-up cafe location on 124 Street.

Established in 2006, Transcend has been sourcing, roasting and serving some of the highest-quality direct-trade coffee. Transcend offers coffee subscriptions, gear and equipment, and coffee beans.

I love trying new cafes and I’m shocked I’d never been to Transcend until recently, especially knowing that it was established in 2006. I’ve recently been to the Ritchie location twice and I love the atmosphere.

Transcend Ritchie is located inside the Ritchie Market, which also features the ACME Meat Market, Biera, Biera Market, Blind Enthusiasm Brewing Company, and Duchess Bake Shop. I love grabbing a coffee, a treat from Duchess, and browsing the market.

My go-to order from Transcend Coffee is an iced vanilla latte with almond milk. I’ve had some spectacular iced vanilla lattes in my lifetime and some not-so great lattes. The Transcend iced vanilla latte falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

The first time I went to Transcend, the latte was delicious and I had no complaints. It hit the spot and gave me the caffeine boost I so severely needed. The second time I went to Transcend, the latte tasted a bit watered down. And, when you’re paying $7 for a latte, you’d hope it’d be worth the $7.

I understand that things happen and consistency isn’t always 100%, and this is why I’d go back to Transcend. The space in Ritchie is perfect for gathering with friends and they also have a variety of baked goods.

Transcend Coffee Roastery is located at 9570 76 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
